Aetherite

For most scholars of the Nexus, the materialization of a Primordial element was thought possible only for the titanic forces of Creation and Destruction. Their crystalline avatars—Creationite and Destructinite—have surfaced countless times in recorded history, cementing the conviction that no other Primordial possessed strength enough to condense into matter. Even the Collective’s brightest circles enshrined this limit as natural law. Yet among the Prodigies of the Collective, a handful of iconoclasts quietly maintained that the full tally of twenty‑six Primordials might yet endure. Lacking hard proof, their claims languished as metaphysical fancy—until Aurora Ai proved them unequivocally right.   This entry introduces Aetherite, long dismissed as a legend but now recognized as the Element of Divinity itself. Externally, Aetherite appears as a flawless round‑brilliant crystal whose heart ignites with an icy‑blue radiance that fans into star‑shaped spokes. Each facet refracts that inner light into silvery flashes and pale‑cerulean halos, lending the stone an unbroken shimmer even in perfect stillness. Beyond its optics lies a subtler marvel: the gem emits a rhythmic energetic thrum—a “pulse” scholars liken to the heartbeat of the cosmic lattice—marking it as something neither wholly material nor purely arcane.   Occupying a liminal tier among the Primordials, Aetherite mediates between tangible substance and the numinous energies that underwrite reality. What follows catalogs its crystalline architecture, thaumaturgic signatures, and symbolic resonance—an element once denied, now impossible to ignore, and a potential keystone in the quest to complete the fractured elemental wheel.

Properties

Material Characteristics

As a primordial element of Divinity itself, Aetherite manifests in physical form as a flawless, round‑brilliant–cut gemstone whose facets gleam with uncanny precision. From deep within its heart, a vivid icy‑blue radiance flares outward in a perfect starburst, as though the stone harbors a shred of celestial fire. This inner luminosity refracts through each polished plane, fanning into silvery flashes and pale‑cerulean highlights that make the gem shimmer even in absolute stillness. Pavilion facets mirror the blue core into dancing ribbons of cool flame, while the crown facets project that energy back as blinding brilliance. The result is a living jewel—one that seems to pulse with sacred power, marrying diamond‑like crystalline clarity with the otherworldly glow of frozen starlight and confirming its legendary status as the luminous heart of the divine.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Because Aetherite was counted among the Lost 24 Primordials until only recently, its full catalogue of properties remains incomplete. Ongoing trials—guided by preliminary data shared by Aurora Ai —have nevertheless confirmed several consistent effects:
  • Universal Serenity. The moment a sapient being handles or even draws near an Aetherite crystal, they report an immediate influx of serenity: muscles unclench, heart rate steadies, and the mind floods with a gentle luminosity described as warm, comforting light. This response appears independent of species, physiology, or prior conditioning.
• Aura of Calm. The stone radiates a low-level field that extends several metres beyond its physical boundaries. Individuals inside this aura experience the same soothing influence, though less intensely than those in direct contact.
• Demonic Aversion. Entities classed as demonic (or otherwise aligned with inverse-numinous energies) exhibit the opposite reaction: acute burning pain at the skin or ectoplasmic surface, accompanied by a powerful instinct to flee. In controlled settings, infernal subjects have retreated up to 5000 kilometers before the aversive stimulus abated.   These findings, while preliminary, suggest that Aetherite acts as a stabilising, possibly sanctifying substrate—promoting a sort of equilibrium in most life-forms while repelling forces antithetical to Divinity. Further experimentation is underway to quantify the gem’s energetic output and determine whether its pacifying effect can be harnessed for therapeutic or defensive applications.

Compounds

Until recently, scholars assumed that Primordials such as Aetherite were too fundamental to bond with any other element. That view collapsed when Aurora Ai demonstrated a powerful synergistic resonance between Primordials and Myridium. By merging Aetherite with a Myridium sample she triggered a stable transmutation that yielded Aetherium, an “enhanced‐Primordial” derivative, or “Primordium” whose properties exceed those of the base crystal.

Geology & Geography

No naturally occurring sample of Aetherite—nor of any Primordial save Creationite and Destructinite—has ever been recorded in the Material Plane. Every specimen known today was either coaxed into being through Aurora Ai’s Primordial-Synthesization protocol or bestowed directly upon the Children by the Celestials themselves. Aurora nevertheless contends that Primordials may originate naturally in the non-material domains of the Imaginary Tree, where each serves as a foundational building block of its patron Celestial’s realm.
